
Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British musician, singer, actress and activist. She was born and raised in the London Borough of Islington and took classes at the Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis was an international star when she won The"X Factor"'s third series in 2006. The singer also signed the PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. Her winning song, which was a cover to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" reached #1 for several weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke records in the world by achieving the milestone of 50,000 downloads in just 30 minutes. In February 2007 Lewis agreed to sign a five-album deal with the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Lewis continued her success with Spirit Her first studio album. It sold 10x platinum accredited in the UK. This album became the fourth-most popular album of the 2000, and was also among the most-sold UK albums. According to the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the most successful 21st-century female debut album. The album's lead track, "Bleeding Love", was a seven-week standout at number first in UK and was the highest-selling single of the year 2007. In the US this was the highest-priced single of 2008 . Lewis was proclaimed Best New Artist by Billboard that same year. Echo was her second studio album. The album also featured the hit song "I See You" in the movie Avatar. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" as a collaborative effort with Swedish DJ Avicii as well as her first extended performance, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) marked Lewis her the third album of her studio. It was an exciting new direction. Lewis draws inspiration from dubstep , as well as electronic music. She started recording tracks for her Christmas debut album while on her Glassheart Tour, which took place in mid 2013. Following that, Christmas with Love with Love, featuring her lead single "One more sleep" was ranked third across the UK. Lewis who is who is a British solo female artist made history by becoming the first British artist to break the top 5 with eight songs. The record is higher than Olivia Newton John's seven-year record.
